Wellesley Planning Board Meeting on February 6, 2007

Proposed ammendments to Wellesley MA - Zoning Bylaws

The Wellesley Planning
Board held a meeting on February 6 to review and hear comments about proposed
changes to the zoning bylaws. You can find these change proposals
at:  Click
here

Many home owners
participated and described how the proposals would affect their property value.
Builders and real estate agents weighed in on the possible impact
of the new bylaws especially on diminished values and restricted
property rights of owners. The Planning Board should be commended in their
attempt to come up with creative solutions to issues that have been brought to
their attention in the recent past. However, as Rose Mary Donahue, Vice Chairman
of the committee pointed out, input from the community is needed and welcomed in
the early stages of crafting new laws so that the desired results are realized
and do not impose unwanted and unnecessary burdens on home owners.

A number of the people in
the community have experience and knowledge regarding these issues. There should
be a way that their input can be more easily accessed by town committee members.

We welcome your comments on the new zoning bylaws. We will post each article
over the next few days for your review and comments.
