Needham Faring Better than Most in $1 Million Plus Real Estate Market
Home sales are down for real estate priced at over $1 million due to the fact that jumbo loans are more difficult and more expensive to get these days. The first quarter real estate results showed that luxury home sales nationwide were down nearly 50% compared to the first quarter of 2008. On the positive side of this news, sales of homes over $1 million were quite active in some Greater Boston areas. According to a recent article in the Boston Herald, “Newton and Needham had the most million-dollar-plus sales in the first quarter, with each community seeing a dozen single-family home sales transactions in that price range.” In first quarter 2008, there were 7 million plus sales. First quarter results, while gloomy overall, left a positive stamp on real estate in Needham.
