A unique energy program is going to be utilized in Wellesley MA, focussing on energy consumption and how to cut back

There are six Massachusetts towns participating in piloting an energy efficiency initiative and Wellesley, MA is one of them.  The program is unique, using software aimed at pointing out how much energy is being consumed and subsequently where energy can be conserved.  According to a report on BusinessWire.com, “Participants receive detailed real-time information on how much electricity is being used and how much it costs. By using a task selection tool, the homeowner can select from some 150 actions and see how much each action will contribute to their energy savings.”  The company that created this program is called Grounded Power and Wellesley is one of the towns experimenting with it because the company was choosing Municipal owned electric companies.  The Wellesley residents who will be participating in the experiment are expected to become much more aware of their energy consumption by engaging in the real-time reports that are available. Wellesley, MA is on the cutting edge of energy awareness by being a part of this energy efficiency initiative.

The other towns, in addition to Wellesley, participating in this initiative are Braintree, Danvers, Hingham, North Attleboro and Wakefield.
