The rail line running through Dover and into Needham has been decommissioned since 2008. “Needham Bikes”, an active group of bike enthusiasts, are researching the viability of creating a bike trail along this seven mile run of line. The owners, Bay Colony and MBTA, seem to be in agreement over “The Bay Colony Rail Trail Project”. Since rail to trail projects have been completed in other Massachusetts communities, there is lots of inspiration out there to help bring this project to reality. Something to watch and see.
